Kate Bosworth to star in BBC drama SS-GB

Kate Bosworth is to star in new BBC drama 'SS-GB'.

The 'Still Alice' actress and critically acclaimed British actor Sam Riley - who appeared alongside Angelina Jolie in 'Maleficent' - have been confirmed for the lead roles in the upcoming adaption of Len Deighton's novel of the same name.

Kate said: "I am thrilled and honoured to be a part of this incredible team, bringing an iconic novel to the screen."

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade - who have penned five James Bond films including the highly-anticipated 'Spectre' - adapted the intriguing, alternate history tome set in Nazi-occupied London.

The five part thriller is based on the premise that the Germans won the Battle of Britain.

Riley has signed up to play British detective Douglas Archer, who finds himself working under the brutal SS in occupied London.

Bosworth, meanwhile, is set to portray American journalist Barbara Barga, who becomes inextricably linked with the murder case Archer is investigating.

Riley shared: "Archer is compelling and complex character. He is a good guy struggling to reconcile his job as a policeman within the repressive Nazi machine. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have written a gripping screenplay that pays homage to Len Deighton's novel. I am very much looking forward to working with this talented team."

Other names confirmed for the drama include 'The Missing' actor Jason Flemyng, Game of Thrones' James Cosmo and 'Cilla' actor Aneurin Barnard.

'SS-GB' is set to go into production later this month and will air on BBC One in 2016.
