John Mayer promises fans he will release 'lots of new music'

John Mayer is preparing to release more new music than ever before.

The American singer-songwriter reached out to fans on Facebook Live on Thursday (17Nov16) to unveil Love on the Weekend, his first single since a 2014 cover of Beyonce's song XO.

John then revealed that the tune will be included on his new album, titled The Search for Everything, which will be released next year (17).

"There are more songs that can fit in your standard-sized album," he teased during the fan Q&A. "But I do think that next year is a year of more music coming than I've ever put out in any one year."

The Gravity singer wouldn’t be drawn on when The Search for Everything will be launched, or any possible tour dates, but he did give a hint, saying he'd share more "very soon".

As for the album title, he said that it was inspired by a poem he wrote, thinking it would later become a song.

"That's really sort of what my career has been, it's what my life has been, it's the way that my mind works - it sort of consumes everything," he explained of the record. "That is very true to the nature of the record, which is sort of like a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I've made before, but certainly in my own certain way of doing it."

The 39-year-old, who has previously dated the likes of Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift, also shared with fans a titbit about himself during the talk, revealing that he searches for himself online via Instagram.

"I get the most flattered and moved when I look at Instagram hashtags," he admitted. "I feel like that’s a kinder, gentler Internet."
