John Krasinski: 'All the parenting cliches are true!'
John Krasinski has been feeling "all sorts of new things" since becoming a father of two.
The 36-year-old actor and wife Emily Blunt, who are already parents to two-year-old Hazel, welcomed daughter Violet into the world in June (16).
Since having another baby, John admits he has started to understand parenthood more, and it has given him a new appreciation for his own family.
"All the cliches of parenting are true and you feel all sort of new things," he told Entertainment Tonight. "It was really this new existential magnet that you feel draw to your family... and you understand your parents more, you understand your brothers' relationships more, you understand even your family's name. That you are from somewhere."
John was also able to explore this concept in his new movie The Hollars, which he also directs. The film tells the story of a man about to become a father, and the actor admits he would have played the role very differently had he not been a father himself in real life.
"We started shooting the movie when my daughter was four-and-half-months-old, and I've got to say that, had I shot this five months before, that it would have been a totally different movie," he added.
While John has been kept busy with his work commitments, he is also ensuring he gets to spend time with his newly-expanded family. And seeing Hazel with her newborn sister is a unique experience that John will never forget.
"Hazel's amazing," he smiled. "She really loves the baby and I think there is this idea of, 'Oh my God, she is adorable.' I mean when a two-and-a-half-year-old hugs a newborn baby it's one of the cutest things you will ever see."
John was joined by Emily at the New York premiere of The Hollars on Thursday night (18Aug16). Despite having Violet just two months ago, Emily already appears to have regained her pre-baby figure, and showed off her slim frame in a figure-hugging white dress for the occasion.
