Joey Feek laid to rest
Joey Feek has been laid to rest.
The 40-year-old country singer - who lost her battle with cancer last Friday (04.03.16) - was remembered in a private ceremony attended by her husband Rory Feek, close family and friends in her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, on Tuesday (08.03.16).
A representative for the late star - who was mother to two-year-old Indiana - has issued a new statement remembering the singer for her "beautiful voice, beautiful smile and beautiful marriage partnership.
The statement read: "Joey had been fighting Stage IV cancer for nine months, surrounded by the love and support of countless family members, friends, loved ones, longtime followers of her music and even strangers who were inspired by her life
"Joey was known for her beautiful voice, beautiful smile and beautiful marriage partnership with Rory Feek. Together they shared a life built around a love of faith, family, farming and country music. Their stories, which ranged from growing vegetables to their blossoming as a country music duo, have impacted countless people through television, radio and performances."
The couple wed in 2002, just two months after they first met. They welcomed their beloved daughter Indiana - who has Down Syndrome - into the world in February 2014 but sadly four months later, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
