Jeremy Renner proud of fearsome face
Actor Jeremy Renner enjoys confusing people by looking like he wants to kill them one minute and is the friendliest guy in the world the next.
The 45-year-old star can't help looking irritated a lot of the time, as his face is naturally moody. He's grown to love this about himself, as he is sure it's one of the reasons why he has become so successful.
"This is the face I was born with but I think actually it’s why I have a career,” he told luxurylondon.co.uk.
"When I smile I can come across as the most friendly guy you’d want to meet, and when I don’t smile people think I want to kill them. It keeps people confused. It makes me hard to read, gives me a face for drama. I built my life around it. I like it."
This ties in to Jeremy's general life agenda, which is that he won't be pigeonholed. The Avengers star likes to vary the movie roles he takes and has many interests outside work, plus he's a father to his two-year-old daughter Ava. All these things have built him into the person he is now, but none of them are more important than the others.
"I like to think I’m a great father but I’m not just that. And it’s not like I don’t want to be an actor anymore. I just enjoy the things I enjoy," he said.
"Do you want any one thing chiselled on your tombstone? Or do you want to be known as an amazing brother or a wonderful father? Do we have to be defined by any one aspect, especially when it’s (reduced) down to race and creed, the things that people find easier to put a stamp on?
"That’s where I come from. That’s the principle that was passed on to me by my father and in turn which I’ll pass on to people in my family."
