Jennifer Garner 'wants to keep kids happy after split'
Jennifer Garner reportedly never wants her kids to feel disappointed by Ben Affleck not being present but found him staying at their home too "draining".
The former Hollywood couple announced plans to end their 10-year marriage in June 2015, but have remained on friendly terms since for the sake of their children Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, three. Jennifer has even let her estranged spouse stay at the guest house in their Los Angeles and although it was apparently stressful for the actress, it hasn't dented the harmony between her and Ben.
"She seems much more relaxed and is enjoying life," a source told People magazine. "It's great to see her happy again. The kids love when Ben is home and that's why Jen let him stay at the family house. She never wanted them to be disappointed that Ben wasn't there. But it was emotionally draining for her."
"(Ben is) putting on a united front of respect for the children and for her and for each other," another insider added. "On that, Ben has never wavered."
As both Hollywood A-listers have busy schedules at the moment, with Ben currently wrapping his movie Live by Night while Jennifer promotes her film Miracles from Heaven, the pair are said to be spending as much time as a family as possible. A favourite spot for the clan is Forma Restaurant and Cheese Bar in Santa Monica,
"You can tell that they are not together," an onlooker commented to People. "The kids usually tell him long stories about what happened in school or upcoming activities."
While Jennifer and Ben will never be on romantic terms again, a source close to them insists their children will always come first. This apparently includes holding regular pizza nights to create a sense of normalcy for their brood.
"They are doing it their own way," the source said. "And that way works for them right now."
