Jay McGuiness: I'm a cheerleader for The Wanted boys

The Wanted's Jay McGuiness would rather be a "cheerleader" for his bandmates than start a solo career.

Jay, Max George, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran and Tom Parker are currently on a hiatus and doing their own thing. For Jay that's meant a stint on Britain's TV show Strictly Come Dancing and aside from that, he doesn't have his eye on any projects.

"Outside of Strictly I don't have any other ambitions," he shrugged to Britain's OK! magazine. "I've wanted to have a really awesome experience and so far that has been my focus. I would rather be a cheerleader for the boys."

Despite their current break the guys still get on well and support one another. Nathan and Tom have been producing solo music, while Max and Siva have expressed an interest in acting, with Max even appearing US series Glee before it finished earlier this year (15). It means there has been no time to talk about when The Wanted will reform.

"We've got no current plans but never say never," Jay smiled. "We all keep tabs on how we're all doing."

There's a personal reunion coming up at Siva's wedding to fiancée Nareesha McCaffrey. Jay might even employ his professional dancing partner on Strictly, Aliona Vilani, if she'll help Siva with his moves at the reception.

"Yes!" Jay grinned when asked if he's looking forward to his friend's big day. "I'll ask Aliona if she'll teach them their first dance. Will I give them lessons? I don't want to upstage Siva, as that guy cannot dance!"

Bandmate Tom recently joked it's actually Jay who's the worst dancer out of The Wanted boys, but the star wasn't having any of it.

"Oh my god! He's such a mickey taker!" he laughed. "I think Tom was one of the most eager dancers out of the group but when he danced, he was like a Thunderbird."
