Jason Priestley suffers concussion on TV set

Jason Priestley is recovering from a concussion after being thrown from a horse.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star was filming his upcoming TV drama The Code in Toronto, Canada on Monday (09Nov15) when he suffered the worrying fall, and he was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

He remained under doctors' care overnight as a precaution and was discharged on Tuesday (10Nov15).

Production on the show has been temporarily shut down to allow Jason time to recover, but he has reached out to fans on to assure them he is "on the mend".

"Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words...," the 46-year-old wrote on Wednesday (11Nov15). “It's true, I did get thrown off a horse on set... I got my bell rung pretty good (sic)... Because I Have a history of concussions, they took me to see a neurologist for an assessment. He advised I take a few days off as I had suffered a Concussion... But I am definitely on the mend and looking forward to getting back to work with all the wonderful people on The Code."

Jason stars as a former hockey professional-turned-private investigator in The Code, which is based on the book of the same name by G.B. Joyce. The programme is expected to premiere next year (16).

The Canadian is no stranger to health scares. In 2002, he suffered a head injury, fractured spine, broken nose and fractured feet after crashing his car at the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series at the Kentucky Speedway.

Jason was lucky to walk away from the incident, which occurred as the vehicle was travelling 180mph.

Following the crash, Jason admitted it had given him a new appreciation for life and his career in particular.

“You know what I appreciate?” he told “I find that every year that goes by I appreciate what we do as actors and filmmakers. I really cherish the whole experience. That's my thing.”
