James Corden: 'Tom Cruise is my dream guest'
TV host James Corden says Tom Cruise is at the top of his “wish list” of people to interview.
The 37-year-old presenter is enjoying huge success in the US with The Late Late Show with James Corden. Some of the highlights include Carpool Karaoke – which sees James drive around with famous singers as they perform hits – and summing up Hollywood star’s careers in a funny live montage. James would love to see Tom appear on the programme and get involved in a sketch.
“In terms of my wish list,” James said in an interview with Britain’s Closer magazine. “We have a feature on our show where we act out someone’s film career in five minutes, so I’d love to do that with Tom Cruise. I think he’d be fun and he’s had such a brilliant career.”
James’ antics in the Carpool Karaoke – which has seen him sing alongside stars such as Adele, One Direction, Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber – have attracted millions of YouTube hits. While he loves showing off his vocal skills, James has laughed off speculation he may be considering recording his own smash hit album one day.
“I’ve had a couple of record deal offers from both England and America,” James confessed. “But no one has to worry! I haven’t had any formal vocal coaching but I’ve always sung. Ultimately I’d like to be in plays and do lots of writing and stage acting.”
James grew up in Hillingdon, greater London but chose to relocate to the US after landing the hosting role on The Late Late Show. Although he is used to meeting huge stars, he still can’t believe he is living in Los Angeles.
“I’m still getting used to the fact Steven Spielberg is one of my neighbours!” James explained. “We had no idea that it was going to be like that when we picked the house to rent.”
