Jake Gyllenhaal wants children

Jake Gyllenhaal "would love" to have children.

The 34-year-old actor, who plays a boxer and grieving father to 13-year old actress Oona Laurence, in drama 'Southpaw', hopes his character's personal life one day becomes a reality for him.

He said: "I would love it not to be fictional."

The 'Nightcrawler' star also revealed his fondness for his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal's children, and how they inspired his work on the film.

He added: "I have two nieces whom I adore and whom I'm connected to in so many powerful ways. They are deeply engrained in the movie, and my love for them is there."

And Jake - who has had had a string of high-profile relationships with the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift - also admitted that he found the industry "distracting".

He told PEOPLE magazine: "There are these extraordinarily charismatic people in the entertainment industry, and it's hugely intoxicating. But I think it can be distracting from your creativity. Why am I chasing something outside? I realised that all I have is what I have inside me to express."
