Hilary Duff talks sister support system
Hilary Duff credits sister Haylie with helping her grow up in the spotlight.
The actress, now 27, shot to fame when she was just 13 years old thanks to her role in Disney Channel TV series Lizzie McGuire.
Her older sibling Haylie is also in the industry, with the pair starring together in 2006 movie Material Girls.
And following reality star Kylie Jenner’s admission she found it difficult becoming an adult in the public eye, Hilary said it was only the support of Haylie that helped her get through the more tough times.
“It makes life a little challenging when everyone watches everything you do,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “To have a support system from your sister and your sister be your number one fan and advocate is really important.”
The pair have been close since they were youngsters and are now raising their own children together – Hilary with three-year-old son Luca and Haylie with three-month-old daughter Ryan.
Hilary added in the interview she will remain forever grateful for Haylie including her in all aspects of her life while growing up.
“Being the younger sister, sometimes you get kicked to the curb, and she's always included me with her friends since the time we were little,” she added.
Haylie also spoke in the joint interview, noting she and Hilary were in it together from the outset.
“I think one thing that was important for Hilary and I was always to be each other's number one support system and always be on each other's team,” Haylie said.
The sisters’ interview comes after Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 18, opened up about how tough they found it having their ageing processes documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
“I feel like this life comes with so many blessings but it’s also just difficult…” Kylie told Entertainment Tonight. “It's extremely difficult and you are growing and making mistakes and everyone is judging you. So, that is definitely hard but there are so many blessings that come along with it too…”
