Helena Bonham Carter congratulates new mother Anne Hathaway
Helena Bonham Carter has joked that Anne Hathaway's new son makes her an aunt.
The 49-year-old actress stars as the Red Queen in Alice Through the Looking Glass, with Anne taking on the role of her younger sister the White Queen.
Helena was taking part in a Facebook Live Q&A with the movie's producer Suzanne Todd on Monday (11Apr16) when she was told that Anne and Adam Shulman had welcomed baby Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman.
"Speaking of births, we have to do a shout-out for our lovely white queen Anne Hathaway who had her little baby boy," Suzanne said. "Congratulations to her."
"That's so nice," Helena said. "I'm so happy for them. So that makes me an aunt," with Suzanne replying, "Yes, you have a new little nephew."
Anne is believed to have shot her scenes in Alice Through the Looking Glass before she even fell pregnant. Starring alongside the Les Miserables Oscar-winner was a fun experience for Helena, who added in the Facebook chat that they enjoyed some musical interludes in between takes.
"She's a great singer, so we sang a lot of Wicked," Helena said. "I was stuck with Anne a lot of the time in a sort of harness hanging 20 feet high up, (and) we had a lot of time."
Since becoming parents to baby Jonathan, Anne and Adam are apparently "loving every minute of being new parents".
"He is such a sweet and happy baby," a source told E! News of the baby boy. "He looks like a mixture between Anne and Adam.
"Anne and Adam's parents have been very helpful with the baby. Anne plans on breastfeeding and wants to experience and feel everything about being a new mother."
Alice Through The Looking Glass is released in the UK and US on 27 May.
