Gwyneth Paltrow 'proud' of Chris Martin relationship
Gwyneth Paltrow still adores her ex-husband Chris Martin, and is proud of their new relationship.
The Oscar-winning actress and Coldplay frontman announced the end of their union in March 2014, after more than a decade of marriage, and their divorce was finalised earlier this year (16). They remained friendly throughout the process, mainly for the sake of their kids Apple, 12, and 10-year-old Moses, which Gwyneth feels has made all the difference.
"My children know that we're in a loving family," she said during a Cannes Lions conversation with HardTalk's Stephen Sackur. "And I adore their father even though we're not in a romantic relationship.
"I'm very proud of us for the way that - as anyone who has been divorced knows - we have had to put aside an awful lot to stay a family for the sake of the children. Sometimes it's quite tough on a personal level."
The former couple took to Gwyneth's website Goop to share the news, in a post detailing the decision to "consciously uncouple". While it may have appeared a bizarre way to announce such an personal event, the Seven star admits it was a means of damage control for herself and Chris, 39.
"I felt that it was a way of controlling scrutiny," the 43-year-old continued. "It was such a difficult time in our lives and I think we thought that if we put it on our own platform, it was a way of controlling it."
Discussing the term 'uncoupling', Gwyneth explains it was a way of life she and her former spouse were trying to follow at the time, unaware of how much attention it would gain.
Both A-listers have now moved on, with Gwyneth dating TV producer Brad Falchuk and Chris currently liked to Peaky Blinders beauty Annabelle Wallis. The former flames spend plenty of time together with their children though, like when the film star took the youngsters to watch their father in concert with Coldplay around Moses' birthday in April (16).
