Golden Globe 2016 nominations
'Carol' co-stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara will compete in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama category at the Golden Globes.
The duo have been nominated alongside Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan and Alicia Vikander for the acting prize, which will be presented at a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 10.
'Carol' also received nods for Best Motion Picture - Drama, where it will compete with 'Mad Max: Fury Road', 'The Revenant', 'Room' and 'Spotlight', Best Director - Motion Picture for Todd Haynes and Best Original Score.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama nominees include Bryan Cranston, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne and Will Smith.
Nominees for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical include 'The Big Short' co-stars Christian Bale and Steve Carell, while Matt Damon, Al Pacino and Mark Ruffalo complete the category.
Close pals Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer will compete for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, alongside Melissa McCarthy, Maggie Smith and Lily Tomlin.
Alicia Vikander gets a second nod, in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture category for her role in 'Ex Machina' while Sylvester Stallone has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for his role in 'Creed'.
Lady Gaga was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her role in 'American Horror Story: Hotel', competing in the Best Actress in a Series/TV Movie category.
Other actresses who have been nominated in the category include Sarah Hay, Felicity Huffman, Queen Latifah and Kirsten Dunst.
This is Lady Gaga's first Golden Globes nomination.
Nominees for Best Actor in a Series/TV Movie include David Oyelowo, Idris Elba, Mark Rylance, Oscar Isaac and Patrick Wilson.
'Casual', 'Mozart', 'Orange is the New Black', 'Silicon Valley', 'Transparent' and 'Veep' have all received nods in the Comedy Series category while 'American Crime', 'American Horror Story: Hotel', 'Fargo', 'Flesh and Bone' and 'Wolf Hall' are up for TV Movie or Miniseries.
Best Actress in a TV Musical / Comedy nominations include Rachel Bloom, Jamie Lee Curtis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Gina Rodriguez, Lilly Tomlin while Aziz Ansari, Gael Garcia Bernal, Rob Lowe, Patrick Stewart and Jeffrey Tambor got the nod for Best Actor TV Musical/Comedy
Best Supporting Actor TV nominees include Alan Cumming, Damian Lewis, Christian Slater, Tobias Menzies and Ben Mendelsohn and supporting actresses include Uzo Aduba, Joanne Froggatt, Regina King, Judith Light and Maura Tierney.
The nominations were announced by America Ferrera, Angela Bassett, Dennis Quaid and Chloe Grace Moretz at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Thursday (10.12.15).
The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 10, 2016, at the Beverly Hilton and hosted by Ricky Gervais.
