Emily Blunt: The mystery of Benicio's swimming trunks

Emily Blunt finds it strange Benicio Del Toro didn't bring swimming trunks to a pool party.

The 32-year-old stars alongside the Puerto Rican actor in Sicario, which also features Josh Brolin. During the making of the crime thriller, Josh threw weekly pool parties for the cast and crew. But Emily was surprised by the way Benicio approached the events.

"It was specifically worded as that to a group email including Benecio Del Toro, and Benecio Del Toro showed up with no swimming shorts and just went in in his very thin cotton boxers," she recalled during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon's chat show. "And we were like, 'It's a pool party, that's strange that you wouldn't bring some trunks.' The pool was so cold that as he was getting out, he said: 'Nobody look man,' and we were trying not to."

Emily enjoyed hanging out with her male co-stars and partaking in classic American activities that she wouldn't get to do in her native England. The star's US adventure recently reached a new level when she became a naturalised citizen.

She was supported by her American husband John Krasinski, but admits she had mixed feelings about the occasion.

"It's so strange and slightly disarming, I'm not sure I'm entirely thrilled about it," she confessed. "People ask me about the whole day, they're like, 'It must have been so emotional,' and it wasn't, it was sad. I like being British."

The day took a bizarre turn for Emily when Matthew McConaughey arrived to support his wife Camila Alves, who was also being sworn in.

"McConaughey shows up looking like he's going on safari, I was like, 'You could have worn a shirt and tie, Camila looks amazing,'" she laughed. "John was there, I said, 'John did you enjoy the whole ceremony?' he said, 'I did, I was doing the best I could not to stand next to McConaughey in that courtroom and go: "All rise all rise all rise".' And that's all he was thinking about."
