Emily Blunt panicked by husband's on stage fashion disaster
Emily Blunt was left in a state of panic after her husband John Krasinski had an on-stage wardrobe malfunction in front of Anna Wintour.
The actress was watching her spouse star in the off-Broadway play Dry Powder last month (Mar16) when she noticed he'd arrived on stage with his suit jacket was tucked into the back of his pants.
As a member of the audience she could only look on in horror as he had to try and perform a long scene in front of an opening night audience including the U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief.
"Because I'd seen the play before I knew that John's first scene was a 25 minute long scene and it's in the round this production which means you have audience all around you, 250, 300 people," she tells U.S. late night host Jimmy Kimmel. "And John came out for his first scene and his suit jacket was tucked into his pants, into the back like really tucked and I heard myself say 'Oh my God, no!' I just knew everyone was going to see."
According to Emily, John's co-star Hank Azaria tried to help John avoid embarrassment by removing the jacket before too many audience members noticed.
"I was thinking this scene is 25 minutes, could I go up there somehow? I was panicking I was like how do I get his jacket out of his crack?," she adds. "Then Hank Azaria who's in the play with him and Claire Danes, God bless him I could see he changed a certain move he did on stage and he came behind him and just wrenched it out the back of his pants."
However despite Hank's clever move, John's blushes were not spared as straight after he felt his colleague rectify his wardrobe malfunction he looked into the crowd and saw Anna staring back at him
The Huntsman: Winter's War actress says, "John said as he felt the jacket like brush against his bum and come out he looked up and saw Anna Wintour in the crowd and thought, 'No!'"
Dry Powder runs at Manhattan's Joseph Papp Public Theater/Martinson Theater until 1 May (16).
