Emily Blunt leads movie award nominations

Emily Blunt is in line to take home the Best Actress gong at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.

But the actress, who is nominated for her role in 'Sicario', faces some stiff competition if she is to emerge victorious, as her competitors are Saoirse Ronan for 'Brooklyn', Dame Maggie Smith for 'The Lady in the Van' and Charlotte Rampling for '45 Years'.

It's sure to be a tough fight for the boys as well, with Michael Fassbender nominated for Best Actor for 'Steve Jobs' and 'Macbeth', along with Idris Elba for 'Beasts of No Nation' and Tom Courtenay for '45 Years'.

Both '45 Years' and 'Brooklyn' are also in running for the Best Film prize, as are 'High-Rise' and 'The Lobster'.

Sarah Sands, editor at the London Evening Standard, said of the nominees: "The talent in this year's shortlist is exceptional and we are pleased to be shining a light on Britain's outstanding creativity by celebrating the British Film Industry at the Evening Standard's British Film Awards."

'Game of Thrones' actress Maisie Williams is up for the Rising Star award thanks to her role in 'The Falling', while Tom Browne, who directed 'Radiator', Jake Davies for 'X+Y' and Agyness Deyn for Sunset Song are also nominated.

Comedic performances are also being recognised, with Olivia Colman and Colin Farrell both nominated for the Award for Comedy for their roles in 'Lobster', as well as Emma Thompson for 'The Legend of Barney Thomson' and the movie 'Bill'.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 7.
