Dwayne Johnson announces WrestleMania return
Actor Dwayne Johnson has confirmed he is "coming home" to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) by making an appearance at WrestleMania 32.
Before starring in Hollywood blockbusters, the former professional wrestler was a star athlete of the WWE, battling in the ring under pseudonym 'The Rock'.
And fans who miss the drama that ensued when The Rock faced opponents are in for a treat, as Johnson announced via his Instagram profile on Monday 28 December (15) he is going to turn up in full force at WrestleMania 32, which takes place in Arlington, Texas on 3 April 2016.
Attached to a video clip of himself slamming bodies in a match, Johnson wrote on the picture-sharing website: "IT'S OFFICIAL: People's Champ is coming home to do 3 things with THE PEOPLE: Set an ALL-TIME attendance record, ELECTRIFY Dallas like never before & make all time #WRESTLEMANIA history. And we have FUN. Ok that's four things but you know what the hell The Rock's sayin'... THANK YOU #WWEUniverse! It's always an honor coming home and I wouldn't miss it for the world. #PeoplesChamp4L #MakingElectrifyingHistory #SmackethLaidDownOnThyCandyA*ses".
Johnson wrestled full-time with the WWE from 1995 to 2004 and he returned for a part-time stint between 2011 to 2013 - he was declared WWE champion eight times in the past.
Johnson's acting career took off in 2001 after he landed a part in The Mummy Returns and his status in Hollywood continues to rise after starring in blockbusters such as Furious 7.
He will next be seen in Central Intelligence, an action comedy also starring funnyman Kevin Hart that will reach American theatres on 17 June 2016.
