Denise Robertson has died
Denise Robertson has died aged 83.
The 'This Morning' agony aunt - who joined the breakfast show in 1989 - tragically passed away today (01.04.16) after losing her fight against aggressive pancreatic cancer.
The mid-morning programme announced the heartbreaking news on its official Twitter account this morning and revealed a tribute will feature on today's show.
The statement said: "Such sad news- our friend and colleague Denise Robertson has lost her short but determined battle against cancer. (sic)"
Denise's colleague Phillip Schofield was one of the first to pay tribute to the fallen star upon hearing the news.
Taking to his Twitter account, he said: "I'm heartbroken at the passing of our @itvthismorning icon Denise Robertson. Kind, thoughtful, caring & wonderful (sic)."
And Rylan Clark-Neal, who also briefly worked with Denise on the show this year, added: "Devastated. The nicest and kindest woman in tele. Will miss her so much. She'll always be the only woman for me (sic)."
Meanwhile, Denise broke hearts around the nation last month when she announced she had recently learnt she had been battling the deadly disease for some time but was determined to beat it with chemotherapy.
She said at the time: "I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It has come as a surprise to me and my family but we know that many others have suffered and dealt with this condition and I don't plan to give up without a fight."
