David Hasselhoff weighs in on Zac Efron's Baywatch tumble
David Hasselhoff wouldn't be surprised if Zac Efron faked falling over while filming Baywatch to gain extra publicity for the movie.
Zac and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson are giving the famed '90s TV show a big screen makeover, with Dwayne taking on the role of lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, the part made famous by David on the small screen.
While the castmembers were all doing the famous Baywatch run during filming, Zac took a tumble in the sand. The moment was captured by waiting photographers, something David is not sure was accidental.
"I'm not even sure that he didn't do that for fun," he told Britain's Heat magazine. "It's a funny and gets more publicity for the film. If I was directing I would say, 'Right, one of you has got to fall'. I would have everyone do it and pick the best one. People like the drama."
David also appears in the film, though this wasn't planned when production first started. Instead, the 64-year-old took it upon himself to turn up and tell the cast and crew more about Baywatch and what it meant to him. This led to him being offered a role, which he happily accepted.
"The Rock was so respectful. He's probably the highest paid actor in the world but we got on great. We really hit it off. He introduced me to his mother. I've met Zac before so he was cool," David smiled of his co-stars.
Zac, 28, buffed up significantly for the role, rivalling 44-year-old Dwayne's impressive bulk with his new body. But David still reckons he could beat the former High School Musical actor in an arm wrestle.
"Oh, I would kick his a**," he boasted. "But The Rock would probably beat me."
