Daniel Radcliffe: 'I won't share my personal life with the world'

Daniel Radcliffe is proud he has been able to keep his personal life private despite enjoying mega fame.

Daniel has acted since he was a child and has starred in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time - Harry Potter. However, despite his huge career, the actor has been able to experience many of the same milestones a "normal" person has out of the spotlight - including his first "proper" date.

"I just went out with a cap on, and you have to hope that the person you're dating is understanding and not made to feel awkward by someone coming up or anything like that, but you just do it," Radcliffe tells People magazine and Entertainment Weekly editorial director Jess Cagle.

"That was always the weird thing," he continues. "I think people always imagined that I didn't have a childhood or I missed out on some stuff, and I'm sure I had a very different childhood, but all those first dates and first kisses, those rites of passage, I still had them, and they were actually generally really private, I don't feel like I have to share them with the world, and I felt like they were really my own, which is nice."

Daniel has been dating Erin Darke since 2014 and last year he admitted they are in no rush to take the next step in their romance. However, the 26-year-old is keen to become a father in the next few years.

"One day, definitely, I'd love to be a dad," he said on Marc Maron's WTF podcast. "Maybe it's totally selfish and the wrong reason to want kids, but I'm like... Something that makes you that focused on something that's not you is always appealing to me."
