Dame Helen Mirren takes 'honest' approach
Dame Helen Mirren tries to be "as honest as possible."
The 'Trumbo' star believes the Internet has made it almost impossible to control your image nowadays, so she sees no point in trying to hide things from the public domain.
She said: "The whole concept of privacy and control over your image is over. Everyone has a camera and wants a selfie. My approach is to be honest. Be careful, you don't have to say everything, but just be as honest as possible."
The 70-year-old actress has been married to director Taylor Hackford, whom she first started dating 1984, since 1997 and thinks their relationship is solid because they never rushed anything.
She explained: "My husband did a beautiful thing when we were first together. I came to visit him at his office, and I was really upset. I was questioning what I was doing in LA and why I was with this guy I didn't comprehend.
"There was a little path leading down the side of the studio where he worked, and he said,'Do you see that path? We have just stepped onto that pathway. We have all that way to go. Don't worry.' It was such a wonderful, truthful thing to say. I immediately relaxed and thought, 'Yeah, we have just started on our path.' "
Meanwhile, the Oscar winner thinks life is too short to spend it in the gym.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "I occasionally do a bit of gym stuff but can only keep it up for about two weeks, and then it all goes to pot. I am a bit European like that."
