Chris Pine: 'My friends make fun of the way I hug!'
Chris Pine feels like there's something wrong with him because his hugging style is so weird.
The 35-year-old actor appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday night (21Jul16) to promote his new movie Star Trek Beyond, but host James couldn't resist asking him about reports his pals mock him for the way he embraces people.
Clearly embarrassed about the situation, Chris said: "I feel really self conscious about it. I’ve talked about it so much that I feel like maybe there's actually something wrong with me!"
Chris then demonstrated just what's so funny with his hugs, pulling James in and sticking his bottom out.
"My friends make fun of me - they think I’m an ass out hugger!" he laughed.
Since finding himself the victim of the jibes, Chris told James he has "tried very conservatively to do a very kind of (straight body hug)."
James also asked Chris about his Star Trek Beyond co-star Zoe Saldana's claims that he "never stops eating" during an appearance on the chat show last week (ends17Jul16).
Doing little to dispel the claims, Chris tucked into a meat and salad baguette, before struggling to answer whether there was any truth to the rumours as he laughed: "Maybe it could be a softer baguette!"
Imogen Poots, who was also on James' show, then offered the host a bite of the sandwich, to which he replied: "No, I'm on this diet where I can't eat bread. Look at me, I need to do something!"
Following a swig of beer, Chris managed to continue with his interview, before pulling a turkey leg out from behind the sofa and chowing down on that.
"I don't know if you've ever checked back behind this sofa", he told James, "But there are like four incredible mini fridges full of food!"
