Children in Need raises £37m
'Children in Need' raised over £37.1 million for charity.
The annual appeal show was held into the early hours of this morning (14.11.15) and a whole host of celebrities including the stars of 'Call the Midwife', 'EastEnders', Chris Evans, Dermot O'Leary and Tess Daly united with the British public to raise the hefty sum of £37,100,687, which will be used to make a difference to children's lives up and down the UK.
Highlights of the night included the final leg of the 2015 Rickshaw Challenge led by 'The One Show's Matt Baker, which netted a staggering £3.46 million for the worthy cause.
Chris Evans and the team at BBC Radio 2 also contributed a large amount - a total of £5.7 million, which was raised from a number of events and activities including Carfest and an auction.
The cast of 'EastEnders' swapped the square for the dance floor as they performed 'Puttin' On the Ritz' whilst the 'Call The Midwife' stars competed in a special version of 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
But the most anticipated moment of the night united the likes of Warwick Davis, Sir Terry Wogan, Martin Freeman, Danny Dyer, Barbara Windsor and Lewis Hamilton for a special Star Wars sketch where the celebrities worked together to find the right person to press the first totaliser button of the night.
Elsewhere on the programme, Scott Mills abseiled down the ArcelorMittal Orbit in London's Olympic Park and musical performances were provided by the likes of Ellie Goulding, Selena Gomez and Rod Stewart.
Meanwhile, Jess Glynne performed a fantastic rendition of the official BBC Children in Need's single for 2015, 'Take Me Home'.
