Channing Tatum plotting stripper return for Magic Mike Live show
Channing Tatum is making plans to hit the Las Vegas stage to take part in his saucy Magic Mike Live revue.
The actor launched the male stripper show earlier this year (17), with 13 performers dancing, performing acrobatics, and thrilling attendees at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The hunky troupe recently had their gig extended until April, 2018, when the show will mark its one-year anniversary, and Channing reveals he is determined to lock in a cameo and return to his stripper roots.
"I definitely am," he told People.com of making an appearance onstage. "I'm absolutely going to at some point."
The Step Up star got the idea for the live show following the huge success of his 2012 film Magic Mike, which was loosely based on his own experiences as an exotic dancer in Tampa, Florida when he was 18. A sequel, titled Magic Mike XXL, followed in 2015.
The Magic Mike Live interactive experience has been packed with fans night after night, and Channing believes the key to its success is the way the show is specifically designed to make women feel good.
"We just kind of did something that we thought was important, which was actually make it for women, and not for women to come and worship men," he explained. "To actually worship the women that are coming to the show and do something for them instead of just being like, 'It's all about the dudes up there.'"
Channing also hopes the show's popularity will help to make the discussion of sex less of a "taboo" subject.
"I want to just try to be like, 'OK, men and women, let's talk. Let's actually have a conversation about sex - about just humour, about really talking and connecting on what we are getting, or what we are getting and what we're not getting,'" he shared. "Let's not make it so taboo.
"Let's not make it so like, 'This should be dirty.' It shouldn't be dirty. It doesn't have to be. It can be the right kind of dirty. It can be dirty if you want it to be dirty, or it can be just like a good time fun where you don't feel like you need a shower afterward."
