Stunner Aoibhinn's shock as sibling given jail sentence for cannabis haul

THE brother of ex-Rose of Tralee winner Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain has been jailed for five months for drug dealing.

Eoin O'Sullivan (23) was nabbed with cannabis worth more than €546 after gardai raided his flat in Castlebar, Co Mayo in October 2009.

Last week, a court heard how 12 pieces of cannabis were found, as well as weighing scales and small "deal bags".

Sentencing him to five months last week, Judge John Coughlan described O'Sullivan as "a drug dealer" who "is supporting drug gangs".

Her brother's drug conviction will come as another blow to Aoibhinn who recently broke-up with boyfriend Ryan Tubridy. The couple split in September after 18 months together, leaving stunning stunning Aoibhinn (27) broken-hearted.

Speaking to the Sunday World, a local source claimed the O'Sullivan family are devastated at the sentence.

SPLIT: Aoibhinn and Late Late Show host Ryan broke up in September
"They are a very decent, respectable family. Both parents, Art and Maire, are teachers who would have brought their kids up the right way.

"Eoin is the oldest of five brothers and he fell in with the wrong crowd after moving to Castlebar to become an electrician.

"He has been living with his parents in Carnacon while he waits for the trial and has been keeping quiet."

Last week, Garda Michael Moran told Castlebar District Court that the drugs were found during a raid on Whitehorse Lane on October 27, 2009.

O'Sullivan's lawyer told the court his client "fell in with people he should not have fallen in with".

He said O'Sullivan had been a user of cannabis since his gap year in school but was "not a drugs baron".

He appealed for leniency saying O'Sullivan had since moved home to his parent's house and the results of urine tests showed he was not using drugs anymore.

But rejecting the plea for leniency, Judge Coughlan said: "Mr O'Sullivan is a drug dealer."

Recognisances were fixed by the judge in the event of an appeal. Last month, stunning Aoibhinn hit the headlines after she was Tubridy's "date" for the launch of his new book on US President JFK.

They arrived at Dublin's Mansion House together but were keeping tight-lipped about their relationship.
