Brits would rather spend Christmas with the Only Fools and Horses' Del Trotter than own family
Brits would rather spend Christmas with the Trotter family from 'Only Fools and Horses' than with their own relatives.
Thirty-eight per cent of the 2000 people surveyed said they'd prefer to celebrate the festive season with the fictional family - featuring gift-of-the-gab Del Trotter, his useless brother Rodney and and their bushy-bearded Uncle Albert - than spend it around the table with their own flesh and blood.
Alan Clarke, CEO, Homestay.com, which carried out the survey, said: "The comedy appeal of the Trotters still resonates with young and old audiences today.
"Personally, I'd love to have a Christmas Day drink with Del Boy and Rodney. While Homestay.com might not be able to get you round the table with your favourite TV family, we do have thousands of other great hosts across the globe willing to share their Christmas with those looking to experience something different than the usual family festivities."
But the Trotters aren't the only family proving popular with Brits as coming in closely behind with 32 per cent of the votes was 'Downton Abbey's The Grathams, while the Simpson family - made up of Homer, Marge and their three children, Lisa, Bart and Maggie - secured the third position.
Unsurprisingly, after being torn apart with death, destruction and divorce every year at Christmas time, the notorious EastEnders' Mitchell family - featuring patriarch badboy Phil - fell bottom of the list with just six per cent of the vote.
