Bill Cosby ‘could face charges in Los Angeles for sexual assault’
Bill Cosby may face a criminal trial, as police officers have reportedly handed over evidence to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for review.
Chloe Goins came forth accusing the 78-year-old comedian of sexually assaulting her at a Playboy party in 2008, when she was just 18 years old.
And TMZ reports after wrapping up their investigation into the matter, the Los Angeles Police Department has handed the material they collected to the DA so that lawyers can determine whether to bring formal charges against Cosby.
A DA spokesperson confirmed to Variety their office is indeed in the process of reviewing the case.
Professional model Goins accused Cosby of providing her with a drink during the Playboy bash which caused her to black out after she swallowed the beverage. According to TMZ, Goins claims she woke up to find Cosby “half naked” while he was “licking her toes with his pants around his ankles”.
Cosby’s representatives have addressed the matter before, claiming he wasn’t even at the Playboy party when the alleged incident is said to have gone down.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office previously dismissed a case plaintiff Judith Huth put forth, in which she claimed Cosby raped her when she was 15 years old at the Playboy Mansion in 1974. Legal authorities determined a trial could not move forward on the matter because the alleged incident took place before 1988, meaning the statute of limitations had been exceeded.
Around 50 women, including supermodels Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson, have accused Cosby of sexually assaulting them from as early as the 1960s era.
On Wednesday 30 September (15) former waitress Sharon Van Ert came forward with models Pamela Abeyta and Lisa Christie with accusations of abuse and harassment against the comedian.
In court documents obtained by The Associated Press dated ten years ago, which were made public in July (15), Cosby confessed under oath he gave sedative-hypnotic pills Quaaludes to a woman before proceeding to have sex with her.
"I meet Ms. [name redacted] in Las Vegas. She meets me backstage. I give her Quaaludes. We then have sex," he said.
However, Cosby and his representatives continue to deny the validity of sexual assault allegations.
