Azealia Banks: I want my money!
Azealia Banks thinks black people still deserve to be paid reparations for slavery.
The outspoken star launched into a mighty rant on Instagram on Monday, discussing immigration and Donald Trump. The singer started by saying she agreed with the billionaire’s stance on immigration, and didn’t hold back as her post continued.
“Not for any reason other than black Americans still not having paid reparations for slavery and the influx INTERNATIONAL immigrants (not just Mexicans), are sucking up state aid, and government money, space in schools, quality of life etc??” she began. “It's selfish, but America has been really good at convincing me that every else's problems are more important than my own, I want my f***ing money!!... Me first!!!... Thoughts? (sic)”
Her fans were quick to reply, with many enraged by her comments. Some accused her of creating a publicity stunt and that almost seemed to be the case as Azealia then seemed to backtrack on her initial words.
“The BIG American Problem is made up of MILLIONS of small problems, In order to solve the big American problem, we must simplify it,” she wrote. “I think the media does an amazing job at presenting all problems at once with graphics and background music and handsome TV anchors that it's easy to lump everything together and not have a real clear sense of where YOU stand (sic)”
The 24-year-old then insisted her first post was a social experiment and her attempt to present an abstract view of the situation. For Azealia, the subject isn’t being explored in enough depth.
“The American Dream has always been supported by SYSTEMATICALLY OPPRESSED UNDERCLASS. First it was blacks and it is whoever else is willing to do the jobs that blacks will no longer do,” she continued. "THAT IS THE REALITY OF IT ALL. Someone has to be on the bottom for someone to be on top. I didn't choose to come to the United States. And you ALL MISSED THE POINT. I am not supporting trump. I'm pointing out the fact that the media has been really really instrumental in helping black people forget about things and shine this all American bulls*** in people's faces.(sic)”
