Anthony Kiedis saved baby's life during Carpool Karaoke filming

Rocker Anthony Kiedis came to the rescue of an unconscious baby while filming with comedian James Corden for his Carpool Karaoke segment.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman and his three other bandmates hopped in a car with the host of America's The Late Late Show for his popular on-the-road sing along on Monday (13Jun16), but Anthony says one scene that didn't make the cut was his life-saving encounter with a baby in need.

The rocker discussed his Carpool Karaoke experience with Radio X host Chris Moyles on Thursday (16Jun16), and explained that when the group got out of the vehicle for a "dance-off", they encountered an unexpected medical emergency.

"We had a a glorious dance-off which they didn't show... We tied," he recalled. "And we were going to celebrate with some Mexican food and a woman came out of her house holding a child saying, 'My baby can't breathe!'.

"We all ran across the street, the lady thrust her baby into my arms, the baby was not breathing, and I thought, 'I'm gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid.' I tried to open the mouth, it was locked shut. So I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place.

"The ambulance showed up and the baby came back breathing and fine and we went back to filming Carpool Karaoke."

Anthony explains his quick act of heroism was simply a matter of being in the right place at the right time, adding, "It was kinda a beautiful thing we stopped for the dance-off. The baby needed help and we were there. When you're a dad and somebody yells, 'My baby!', you jog across the street. The little baby looked at me the entire time until the ambulance guy came. Little baby Nina. I might go knock on the door when I get home."

"(I'm) no hero," Anthony insisted. "It was just a dance-off that ended with a seizure baby."
