Anastacia signs up for U.K. dancing show
Singer Anastacia is set to show off her fancy footwork as a contestant on British TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
The Left Outside Alone singer was revealed to be the tenth member of the celebrity line-up on BBC Radio 2 on Friday morning (19Aug16).
"I'm a total '10' on the level of excitement and definitely a '10' scared!" she said, referencing the judges' points system. "Seriously though, I can't wait to get started. Taking part in Strictly is a dream, it's such a new challenge for me - I've never done anything like this before, so I hope I pull it off!"
The singer told U.K. radio host Chris Evans she has a lot of work to do before she's a "twinkle toes", so she couldn't wait to begin rehearsals with her professional partner.
In her official statement, Anastacia, who performed as a musical guest last year (15), insisted even though she was a pop star, she wasn't a skilled dancer by any means.
"I am not a dancer. I am looking forward to having fun doing something I have never done before," she said. "I have always been a fan of this TV show and admired each contestant year after year. I have seen many people have a positive experience on this show."
The 47-year-old singer, who battles bowel disorder Crohn's disease and has undergone a double mastectomy, added she was a perfectionist and was most looking forward to the glitzy costumes and learning the sensual salsa.
She joins singer Will Young, former Eternal star Louise Redknapp, model Daisy Lowe, Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac, politician Ed Balls, and presenters Laura Whitmore, Ore Oduba, Melvin Odoom, and Naga Munchetty.
The show, the British version of Dancing with the Stars, begins in the U.K. in September (16).
