Amy Schumer: 'My show is not cancelled'

Amy Schumer has clarified comments she made about her TV sketch comedy Inside Amy Schumer, insisting it has not been cancelled.

The comedienne's Inside Amy Schumer sketch show debuted in 2013 and in January (16) executives at U.S. network renewed the series for a fifth season, which is set to air in 2017.

However, Amy appeared to reveal she will no longer be making the show while trying to distance herself from friend and former show contributor Kurt Metzger after he made controversial comments about sexual assault.

After writing tweets voicing her disapproval of Kurt's words, she wrote, "I didn't fire Kurt. He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore. There are no writers for it."

She then retweeted a fan who confessed she would miss the show.

Her messages, which appeared online on Wednesday (17Aug16), left fans concerned, and the 35-year-old felt compelled to hit Twitter on Thursday (18Aug16) to assure fans the show is coming back.

"#InsideAmySchumer is not cancelled," she writes. "@ComedyCentral has provided us with a wonderful home and we couldn't be happier there. I am just touring."

"Doing Standup and focusing on writing more for the next year at least," she adds. "We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future.

"I'm grateful @ComedyCentral is giving me this time to work on other projects," she continues. "Now please grab my book #TheGirlWithTheLowerBackTattoo for now."

Amy has become increasingly busy in the past year thanks in part to the success of her 2015 movie Trainwreck. She is currently promoting her memoir The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, while shooting a new movie with Goldie Hawn. Amy is also taking her stand-up comedy tour to Europe for the first time from the end of August (16).
