Amber Rose upset at being 'bullied' for her past
Amber Rose is “constantly ridiculed” for previously being a stripper.
The star began taking her clothes off for money aged 15 in order to provide money for her family amid the divorce of her parents, taking on the pseudonym ‘Paris’. Now having left those days behind, she currently boasts her own talk show, a modelling career and has dabbled in music, as well as being a mother to three-year-old son Sebastian with ex Wiz Khalifa.
However, despite her success and her career as an advocate for women’s rights and equality, Amber, 32, feels she isn't allowed to move on from her past.
“Woman get bullied constantly for things that we didn’t do, or things that we did do, things that we were very comfortable doing,” she sighed on an episode of The Amber Rose Show on Monday night (26Sep16).
“Shaming is out of control, from sl*t shaming to body shaming to victim blaming. I get ridiculed constantly. I get harassed so much in the club... it doesn't matter what I have on... they’ll kind of like go underneath and like grab my ass, girls and guys.”
She continued to insist that women shouldn’t be touched inappropriately no matter what their outfit is, and touched upon her time as a stripper. Amber certainly isn't embarrassed by that period, calling it the “best f**king time” of her life.
“I love dancing, I loved being up on the pole, I loved the money falling all over my body,” she recalled.
“I wasn’t a mother at that time, but if I didn’t have this show and I didn’t have Sebastian I’d be right up on that pole, making that money. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, to provide for your baby.”
Amber also touched upon her relationship with Wiz, who she split from in September 2014 after just over a year of marriage. Many were quick to call her a ‘gold digger’, as she'd previously dated fellow rapper Kanye West, but she slammed the claims on her show.
“What they’re really saying is the guy that you’re with is stupid as f**k, like I can take advantage of him and take all his money, use him as much as I possibly can... but they’re not looking at the guy,” she said.
‘What’s the difference between being a gold digger and having standards?”
