Our daughter is engaged to a kind of new-age hippie, at least that’s what my husband calls him (but not to his face).
He’s a nice young man and is well educated, but he has some odd ideas. We worry that some of these idea are a bit far-fetched.
He’s into all things about the environment and we have to make sure to recycle when he’s visiting with us. They’re getting married this summer but the ceremony is to be outdoors, between two trees which symbolise something but I can’t remember what.
We’re worried that they won’t be really married at all. My husband hoped they would get married in the same church as we did. But our daughter likes the idea of the trees too so they won’t listen to us. Will they be properly married like this?
Maura says: I’ve no doubt that they have worked through all the practical and legal aspects of their union, as well as the more aesthetic. You don’t mention their ages.
Nevertheless, they don’t seem to be a young, impulsive couple. On the contrary. they obviously have certain beliefs and want to act on them.
They have put thought into their ceremony and know what suits them. Have confidence in your daughter and her groom and enjoy this special day.
