Zimmermann and Net-A-Porter celebrate decade of collaborations
Zimmermann is celebrating a decade working with Net-A-Porter by launching its fourth capsule collection for the company.
The Australian label was founded in 1991 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, and has gone on to become a celebrity favourite thanks to endorsements by Jessica Biel and Beyonce Knowles.
Another reason for the brand’s massive success is its work with online retailer Net-A-Porter, with the companies first joining up 10 years ago.
“We’re saying 10 years of good time,” Nicky smiled to Vogue Australia. “The actual concept can be in a matter of days, particularly if you have a really good feeling about it like this one.”
Simone adds that the fourth Net-A-Porter drop came about in February (16).
“They were extremely supportive, they’ve always understood the whole designer space,” she said. “You do these sort of things and it’s one day at a time.”
The latest capsule collection is full of exclusive designs, which have never been seen in any of Zimmermann’s previous work. Light flowing dresses, printed pieces and lace make up the bulk of the offerings, with Simone commenting that the relaxed vibe and details of the new clothes make them stand out.
Net-A-Porter buyer Maria Williams is equally as enthusiastic about the new line, and she shares that the brand’s “international perspective” is one of the key benefits for them.
“They were one of the first Australian brands to go global,” Maria explained. “They set their sights on the U.S. by setting up stores in New York and L.A. and they’re continuing to grow. They have managed to tap into what every woman wants to wear globally.
“What’s been integral to the brand since its inception has remained but their move to show at New York Fashion Week and developments in terms of their fabrications have certainly elevated its position on the global fashion stage.”
