Zac Posen: Tailoring is a style must
Zac Posen considers alterations a "game changer" for looking good.
The American fashion designer's stunning gowns often dazzle on the red carpet, with the likes of Natalie Portman, Claire Danes and Jennifer Lopez wearing his designs. With such star-studded clientele, Zac knows exactly how to cater to women of all shapes and sizes.
"Alterations are the game changer when it comes to the perfect fit," he told glamour.com. "The right tailoring can make any garment work for any body. And it can make you feel confident - especially when, these days, a lot of clothing is two-dimensional, but in real life every body is different, and women have curves.”
He also suggests turning to custom-made clothing for a flattering fit, adding that it's economical and that garments can last a lifetime if taken care of.
Zac wasn't the only person lending style tips to the website: Candice Huffine also shared some pearls of wisdom. The plus-size model is admired for embracing her curvaceous figure and has even designed a clothing line for larger ladies.
Her tip for feeling confident in your own skin? Not paying attention to what is deemed the 'right' size.
“The mentality that the lowest size is best needs to go out the window. It’s just a number that somebody made up," she explained.
"Try on several sizes, bigger and smaller. Some people have tag phobia: They don't want to buy a bigger size because of the number on the label. If you care about that, cut the tags out when you get home!”
Candice loves to wear blazers and has a method for making them work despite not always being the right fit, catering to the broadest part of her body, then taking in the midsection to create an hourglass finish.
