Zac Posen: ‘Dress the part to become the part’

Zac Posen encourages women to dress the part to feel the part.

The U.S. designer is known for his glamorous red carpet designs, loved by the likes of Sofia Vergara, Eva Longoria and Lena Dunham. While you’re more likely to see his creations at the Oscars than the office, Zac has recently teamed up with Brooks Brothers to create a line suitable for working women.

When quizzed by Vogue Australia how women can feel inspired with their work wardrobe, Zac insists it’s all about selecting the right clothes.

“Dress the part and you become the part,” he assured.

Brooks Brothers is the oldest men's clothier in the United States, and working for such an established brand meant Zac made sure his offerings were in fitting with the label. He also infused his signature use of colour into the pieces.

Zac’s Spring/ Summer 16 collection for Brooks Brothers includes bright printed dresses, block colour pieces and tailored looks.

“As it was my first season designing for one of America’s most revered brands I wanted to remain true to our illustrious heritage while adding my own take on both style and fit,” he explained. “The company has been mostly known for its high quality menswear so it was important that we identify the Brooks Brothers woman; she’s a modern woman with an active lifestyle. She loves fashion but it’s not her only focus. With all of that in mind we really wanted both to update the classics and add exciting, unexpected pieces.”
