VS announce new Angels

Victoria's Secret has added ten new Angels to its roster.

The luxury lingerie company has helped promote some of the world's biggest models to the big time, with Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündchen and Miranda Kerr all previously donning wings on the catwalk.

The company has been hit by some high-profile names walking away from the role this year, with Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes both moving on to new things. However, it hasn't licked its wounds for long and yesterday confirmed ten newbies are joining the ranks.

Kate Grigorieva, Taylor Hill, Elsa Hosk, Martha Hunt, Monika 'Jac' Jagaciak, Stella Maxwell, Lais Ribeiro, Sara Sampaio, Romee Strijd and Jasmine Tookes will all be showing off the illustrious jewelled wings in the future.

In the accompanying release, the company explained that Elsa used to be a pro basketball player and Sara is a brown belt in karate. This seems to add weight to the idea that the firm is putting a renewed emphasis on health and fitness, rather than focusing on skinniness in the future.

The group join Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel and Lily Aldridge, meaning there are now 15 Angels.

Romee has spoken about how thrilled she is to have received the honour, having walked the runway at Victoria's Secret's fashion show last year.

"It’s so great to stand for a brand that is about confident women. It’s really important to me," she explained to style.com.

"We’re all pretty young, so it’s all a little fresher. It’s nice to come into a big brand like this at this age."

She added that Doutzen has always been a great source of inspiration for her as they both hail from Netherlands.

"For us in Holland, she’s the biggest model. I watched every single show, and it was always inspiring to see her," she gushed.
