VB shakes up shades line
Victoria Beckham is jazzing up her sunglasses line.
The fashion designer first started creating eyewear six years ago but has decided it's time to do something new. To help with this she is working with some new manufacturers and specialists who she hopes will inject some freshness into the collection.
"It was important for me to evolve existing styles and develop new pieces for my retail partners and my own store and website and we now have the ability to do this,” she told WWD. “For me, it is about the line continuing to expand and incorporating the best materials and techniques possible. It is an exciting time for the category."
Among those she is working with is company Zeiss, and the fruits of their collaboration will be on show before long. A line of aviators with different shades of lenses is being created, which will go on sale for between $550 and $1,255 - with the more expensive varieties featuring 18 carat gold.
Further plans for the line are yet to be confirmed, although more looks will be unveiled at trade shows in September.
Shades are a big part of Victoria's life and she's often pictured in a dark pair. It seems she's passed her love of the glasses on to her three-year-old daughter Harper, who loves prancing around in some when she's playing.
“Quite often I come home, take my shoes off and my handbag and my sunglasses and Harper will put on the sunglasses and put on the heels with the handbag and totter around the handbag saying, ‘I’m going to work, I’m going to work,’ but I don’t think she knows what work is,” Victoria laughed last year.
