VB: Clothes express my joy
Victoria Beckham's latest collection reflects how happy she is.
The former Spice Girl showed of her Spring/Summer 16 designs at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, with models taking to the runway in floating monochrome pieces and checked midi dresses.
Her new clothes are a creative expression of how well everything is going for the mother-of-four and wife of former soccer stud David.
"It’s very cool and fresh, energetic and fun. And my woman is all of that," she smiled to elleuk.com. "I travel a lot between London and Los Angeles, and to Africa for my charity work. I’m often in New York and I spend time in Asia as well – you can see that energy, colour and print in the clothes. And I’m also very happy, very up."
Victoria's style has changed drastically over the years. During her time in 90s girlband Spice Girls she was known for rocking everything from leopard-print mini dresses to skin-tight two-pieces. Over the years, things have become more sophisticated, which is reflected on the runways and in her own wardrobe.
"I like to wear things that are a bit more challenging. For me, that’s the culottes and print," she explained.
Culottes certainly featured heavily for Spring/Summer 16, with a model teaming a mustard pair with a cobalt blue vest. There was also a burnt-orange pair and a leather-look spaghetti top.
Print-wise, Victoria focused on the aforementioned checks and abstract patterns in various colours.
