Tyra Banks hopes beauty line will be a 'global powerhouse'

Tyra Banks is focusing on expanding her beauty line into a "global powerhouse".

Launched in 2014, the American model's cosmetics brand Tyra Beauty is a range of easy-to-use products, featuring volumising mascaras, liquid eyeliner pens and stick foundations.

Following a conference at Success Partners University in Dallas, Texas on Thursday (07Apr16), the former Victoria's Secret Angel shared a photo of her speaking on stage on Instagram.

To accompany the photo, Tyra wrote she had learnt a lot from the speakers at the event and was focused on growing Tyra Beauty "into the global powerhouse I know it will soon be".

However, she added that she still felt like a "newbie" in the business world and has "sooooo much respect for the business Titans who listened to me speak today".

Before starting the range, the 42-year-old completed a non-degree certificate programme at Harvard Business School, to learn about the beauty industry ahead of launching her self-funded start-up.

Tyra Beauty has followed a model similar to that of beauty giant Avon, with a multi-level marketing system that recruits sales distributors, known as "beauty trainers".

On her website, Tyra states: "We will celebrate our unique beauty and business power together - one juicy, flat, dimpled, skinny, fat ass at a time!"

Tyra is currently on maternity leave following the birth via surrogate of her son York in January (16), whom she shares with boyfriend Erik Asla.

The former host of reality TV show America's Next Top Model previously revealed becoming a mother has enhanced her communication skills and helped her become better at delegating.

"I really now am empowering my team. I'm understanding delegation, understanding that I don't have to do everything to make something successful," she told E! News in March (16), adding, "I'm on maternity leave and Tyra Beauty is kickin' butt!"
