Toni Garrn: 'There’s no place for divas in modelling'

Toni Garrn doesn’t believe diva-like behaviour is acceptable in the modelling industry anymore.

The German model made her runway debut aged 15 and has since been snapped up for shows for prestigious designers such as Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors. She’s also appeared in campaigns for Victoria’s Secret alongside the likes of Erin Heatherton and Lindsay Ellingson.

Though Toni has modelled with some of the most beautiful women in the business, she sees no places for big egos as the rise of the Internet has meant any over-the-top behaviour can lead to a poor reputation very quickly.

“I’ve never had a fight with another model,” she told The Edit. “These days, everything is so public on social media and there are so many models, people don’t want to work with someone who’s not nice. And we’re so lucky, it’s such a great job, so why be a b***h? I’m all about girls helping one another.”

But tennis-mad Toni is very competitive when it comes to staying in shape, particularly in the lead up to photo shoots for the American lingerie company. And the 24-year-old claims she has to work really hard to maintain her figure, as she has her “dad’s genes”.

“I loved having a goal (of getting in shape for Victoria’s Secret), because I wasn’t born with a six pack or a tight belly. I was never one of those little girls who looked like that naturally. So I had to really work hard before the shows, doing something every day. I’d do yoga, barre, run, play tennis, and have a trainer once a week,” she explained.

While she keeps a close eye on her diet in the lead-up to runway shows, Toni doesn’t deny herself the odd treat. The keen baker says she can’t ever say no to some good quality dark chocolate or a glass of red wine.

“I’m a sweets person – I love cake and chocolate ice cream – so I have to manage it. I have really good dark chocolate, and I travel with agave for my coffee,” she shared. “I drink, but if I’m trying to be healthy, I’ll cut it out for a while. Because I drink every night otherwise; I really like a glass of red wine.”
