Theory reteam with David Sims
Theory has once again called upon the skills of celebrated photographer David Sims for its fall campaigns.
The fashion snapper has helmed both the men’s and women’s adverts, though both campaigns sport a similar masculine edge.
Starring models Binx Walton and Frederikke Sofie, who are both new to the brand, the womenswear shots are full of tailored pieces, including pink trousers worn with a forest green winter coat, and a black trouser suit, photographed with Frederikke wearing nothing underneath the jacket.
For the menswear images, French actor Alain Fabien Delon makes his Theory debut. Showing off the label’s more causal side, Alain stuns in a pilot’s jacket, sweaters and smart trousers teamed with sneakers.
David shot each still in a similar fashion; close up portraits against a stark and bare background. The use of light and shadows highlight the simple and timeless pieces.
David has been working with the brand for over a year, first shooting Theory’s spring 15 campaign.
The new campaigns will be rolled out across billboards and digital platforms. Glossy fashion magazines, including T Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar Mexico, China’s L’Officiel and Vogue Korea, will also be carrying the images.
British star David is often thought of as an “anti-fashion photographer”, but he told SHOWstudio last year (15) he doesn’t think like that.
“I never thought of myself as anti-fashion because I never knew what fashion was. I didn’t particularly understand the business at all," he explained.
He also dished on his favourite reaction to his work: “I really like it when someone says there’s a romance in my pictures. Then I think, ‘Ah, they’re seeing it’.”
