The Row swaps NY for Paris
The Row is moving its shows to Paris.
The brand, created and helmed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, has become a New York Fashion Week staple, but this season it'll be flying across the Atlantic and setting up shop in the French capital.
Reps for The Row have yet to disclose times, date or location, but they have confirmed the new city to Fashionista.
The news comes as a surprise, as plans have been laid out to open an NYC shop before the year is out.
This won't be the brand's first French foray though; in 2011 The Row had to move its show there after late sample deliveries forced it to cancel its spring show in New York.
Luckily for the American leg of Fashion Week, it has have gained a designer from its French counterpart. Givenchy is swapping Paris for New York, with creative director Riccardo Tisci announcing the news in June. The showcase will coincide with the opening of a new Madison Avenue flagship store.
New York Fashion Week kicks off September 9 and wraps September 17. Favourites like Ralph Lauren, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors will all show off their latest offerings.
Talking about their design process earlier this year, twins Mary-Kate and Ashley revealed that all decisions made at the label are joint.
“We make all of our decisions together. It helps to have a second set of eyes, and what we create is the product of both of our visions. Listening to each other’s ideas and opinions exposes us to other perspectives, and from there we can begin to create what we think The Row customer would want,” Mary-Kate explained to Matches Fashion.
