The hottest models-turned-designers

This week (beg30Nov15) Coco Rocha announced the launch of her clothing line Co+Co by Coco Rocha in collaboration with company Paragon Project.

After years of modelling, the savvy fashion star knew she has what it takes to become a designer: "Having been around the most amazing creatives in the industry for more than a decade, how could I not be inspired myself?" she asked. Her focus is on luxury streetwear, which will launch in late January (16).

Coco is just one of many models who've made the move to designer. Kate Moss impressed with her line for high-street brand Topshop back in 2007 and had fashion fans in a frenzy when she returned with a new collection for the store last year (14).

Blurred Lines model Emily Ratajkowski dipped her toe in the acting pond first, but is now also trying her luck as a designer. She's made time in her schedule to team up with Californian designer Christy Dawn Petersen on a dress. "Within a week, we met and designed the dress," Christy told WWD.com. "We did it really fast. It was cool to see someone so busy want to work with a smaller company like us."

Emily's fashion friend and former Victoria's Secret Angel Karlie Kloss also has many strings to her bow, among them computing. But she's also a keen designer of sunglasses, teaming up with Warby Parker in 2014. She's also worked with Frame Denim on a line of longer-length jeans in the past.

And she's not the only design talent to come off the VS runway; Lily Aldridge has worked with brand Velvet By Graham & Spencer, Alessandra Ambrosio channelled her love of festival fashion into a line for Planet Blue and Behati Prinsloo released a casual collection for THVM.

It's no surprise designers are so keen to collaborate with models; the It-girls of fashion are sure to entice countless fans to buy their collections. Take Cara Delevingne, who has a huge social media following and caused a stir when she teamed up with Mulberry on a bag. While she couldn't drag the label out of its financial slump, she did provide some much-needed hype around its products.

And finally, there's Kendall Jenner. Recently named the A-list Instagram user with the most-liked picture, who better to sell clothing? She and sister Kylie have lines with PacSun and Topshop, both proving incredibly popular with buyers.
