Taylor Hill's Topshop tulle trend at Met Gala
Taylor Hill’s Met Gala dress was designed to reflect her personality.
The Victoria’s Secret model shunned high end in favour of high street favourite Topshop, and wowed on the red carpet on Monday night (02May16).
Whereas some of her contemporaries went for headline grabbing ensembles, Taylor kept things classic and chic in a floor length black tulle dress by the British retailer.
"Topshop’s in-house Atelier has created an impactful dress that moves elegantly and looks sexy," Holly Wright, head of design at Topshop, explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
"The silk tulle was selected for its sheer qualities, the technical lace used for the underlay is cobweb-like in style and creates a very modern sheen - along with the dramatic train, exaggerated cut-away design and ruffled neck-tie, the dress is intended to perfectly reflect Taylor’s personality."
The inspiration for the look came from Topshop UNIQUE's February (16) show, which Taylor closed with a thigh high slit black dress.
The 20-year-old’s Met Gala dress featured 20 metres of silk black tulle, cut-away sides and a ruffled neck tie.
"What I love about Taylor is that she has this incredible level of glamour, especially within editorials and catwalks," Topshop creative director Kate Phelan smiled. "But through her Instagram channel you get a sense of her real self; she enjoys life, is ultimately beautiful and every girl loves her.”
Taylor was more than happy to show off the stunning look on Instagram, telling fans that it was her first time at the annual gala.
She also uploaded a snap with fellow model Stella Maxwell, calling the blonde her date for the evening.
