Suki Waterhouse launching customisable accessories line
Suki Waterhouse is launching a range of bags and accessories.
The British model and actress has teamed with her friend Poppy Jamie on a 17-piece line, named Pop & Suki, which will be available from October (16).
For fall 2016, the offering comprises of two bags – a small purse and larger tote - which can be affixed with heart tags, clip-on leather tassels and key chains. The streamline designs come in candy-coloured palette, with the pair citing their love of pastels as a key influence.
“It’s clean and minimal,” Suki told Vogue.com. “We aimed to juxtapose functionality with femininity—we wanted elegant pieces that could withstand the wear and tear of busy lives.”
Suki and Poppy’s “camera” bag can be customised with a range of short and wide straps, to transform it into a cross-body or mini backpack. It can also have wording emblazoned across the bottom.
“We didn’t want to create just another It bag; we wanted to develop timeless pieces that could be applicable to anyone without looking cookie-cutter,” explained Jamie of their design approach.
With regards to jewellery, the duo wanted to make personalisation a key focus too. Nearly all the jewellery is interchangeable, with rose quartz, onyx, lapis lazuli and amethyst pill-shaped trinkets on offer, as well as a cross and mini gold bar charm. The charms can be worn on chains, with Suki and Poppy creating a long gold chain with innovative paper clip-style closure.
When it comes to the line, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Suki explains the pair spends an equal amount of time on directing shoots and developing the pieces.
And she also finds it helpful that she and Poppy have a shared view on how to make fashion feel personal.
“Personal style is self-expression,” smiled Suki. “I have an aversion to looking too put together and I admire individuals who are trendless.”
Pop & Suki will soon be available from popandsuki.com, with pieces ranging in price from $25 - $255 (£19 - £195).
