Stephanie Seymour backtracks on Kendall and Gigi insult
Stephanie Seymour has backtracked on her damning Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid comments.
The trio has been involved in a style slanging match after ‘80s and ‘90s model Stephanie took aim at the younger fashion stars during a chat with Vanity Fair. After explaining she believes supermodels are “a thing of the past”, the 47-year-old said Gigi and Kendall deserved their own title which she laughed should be “B**ches of the moment”.
Kendall, 20, spoke out over the sentiment, revealing 21-year-old Gigi had told her about the story, which has led to Stephanie clearing up the remarks in a lengthy Instagram post.
“I don't usually address rumors, but since feelings have been hurt I would like to set the story straight,” she started next to a photo of the two models. “At an event last week I was jokingly asked if the "era of supermodels" was over, what should we call the new great "it" girls?? There were no names mentioned, and NO ill intent involved. A supermodel is a supermodel. I respect and admire all these women in my industry, in particular Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
“Having been in the business over 20 years I know how hard these women work. Bravo to both Gigi and Kendall for their success!! @gigihadid @kendalljenner.”
The semi-apology comes after Gigi’s mother Yolanda Foster also lashed out at the original comments made by former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model Stephanie.
Speaking to TMZ.com, reality TV star Yolanda slammed the model for her hurtful words, which she found even harder to stomach because Stephanie is also a parent.
“It's sad to see some of these beautiful semi-retired supermodels, who are mothers themselves now, feel the need to publicly put down someone else's daughter,” she vented.
Yolanda adds that her eldest is the full supermodel package and is using her fame to inspire others.
