Stella McCartney opts for organic silhouettes for '17
Stella McCartney showed earthy colours and organic silhouettes for spring 2017.
The British designer unveiled her latest collection on Monday morning (03Oct16) at the Palais Garnier, as part of Paris Fashion Week.
Stella opted for bold silhouettes in a muted colour palette, with the show opening with a model wearing a pair of grey trousers with a paper bag waist and a white shirt with plunging neckline.
An army green dress with structured shoulders, cropped olive green paper bag waist trousers and a mustard yellow boiler suit, all made from washed organic cotton muslins.
A relaxed hippie vibe was also evident in a brown cotton one-shoulder dress with draped neckline and fringing around the wrists, which was matched with complementary flat brown faux leather sandals and a matching messenger bag that was tied around the waist.
Though Stella went for dark greens, off-whites and earthy ochres for most of the pieces, she added in a splash of sky blue towards the end of the procession, in the form of masculine cotton shirts printed with large polka dots and a denim jumpsuit with pockets and white buttons down the front. The standout ensemble had to be a pair of cobalt blue trousers with Stella's favoured cinched waist which were paired with a brown trench coat and printed light blue and navy camisole.
Some models also wore white and blue striped cotton scarves, though they weren’t tied around the neck but folded over one shoulder, making a memorable style statement.
Models wore hair slicked back with barely visible make-up, enhancing the striking shapes and on-trend accessories, such as faux leather satchels, handbags and reflective cat eye sunglasses.
Paris Fashion Week continues on Monday with shows from Giambattista Valli and Alexander McQueen.
