Stella McCartney lends support for anti-violence campaign
Stella McCartney is once again teaming up with Kering for a White Ribbon for Women campaign.
The British designer will create a stunning limited-edition brooch to promote the global campaign to ensure men take more responsibility for reducing the level of violence against women. This is the fourth consecutive year Stella has lent her talents to the cause, and this time an impressive 125,000 brooches will go on sale around the world at more than 800 Kering-owned boutiques. Stores including Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Gucci, Brioni and Boucheron will all be displaying the piece of jewellery which will be available in 41 countries.
The initiative is due to launch on Saturday (07Nov15) and will run until 25 November, coinciding with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
“Statistics show that one in three women around the world are beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in their lifetime,” Stella said according to WWD. “This is a horrific fact that has inspired me to bring attention to the awareness campaign to stop violence against women. I cannot stress enough how important it is that people are aware of the facts…and support women to find the courage to break the silence.”
A social media campaign, titled #BeHerVoice, will also be launched by the foundation at the same time. The initiative attracted a host of A-list stars last year, including Hollywood big guns Bradley Cooper, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker and British presenter and fashionista Alexa Chung.
